University
of Surrey
At 6:00pm on Tuesday 3 April 2002, Professor
Mike Kelly, Director of the Center for State Electronics at the University
of Surrey, UK, spoke on subject, Can the Microelectronics Revolution
Last Forever ? This lecture was videotaped and is presented to you
here with the generous co-operation of Victoria

Research Ltd. Support was received from Industry
NZ and CityLink Ltd.
"Two years ago, in my Rutherford lecture, I hinted at problems on the horizon that might herald the end of miniaturisation as the driver for ever more powerful silicon chips, and that a new post-silicon paradigm may be required. Many things have happened in the intervening period - major technical advances, some beyond what was ever expected, much accelerated progress over that anticipated, and the global economics of the IT sector has been under great stress. In this lecture I will bring an up-to-date perspective on this important subject, one in which the UK House of Lords' Science and Technology Committee are taking an active interest at present."Online Videos Available (suitable for different connection speeds)
